I am a DAD!

After twelve hours of labor and an hour of a pushing my wife delivered our baby girl Annie! Now I have never seen a baby delivered, even in biology class I didn’t see this, and it was one of the most life changing events of my life. I had two major take aways from this experience the first is fairly obvious its way harder to a woman than a man! The amount of work and time my wife put in was incredible, not to mention how patient and positive she was through the entire labor. The second lesson I learned was if ever there was a person that didn’t believe a God than they need to be in the room when someone close them delivers a baby! This is the most amazing, humbling, and life changing event that takes place. There is no way that after being part of this that a higher power cannot be acknowledged, you would have to be a fool to not acknowledge it.

Without going in to too much detail about the delivery, the amount of love, hope, and concern that I had for this little new life was immediate. For the first six minutes of her life she didn’t breathe, you could tell she was trying but she wasn’t able to inhale. My heart immediately sunk, suddenly half a dozen nurses rushed into the room to aide our little Annie. Soon she was screaming but needed to be admitted to the NICU. After a long night she was out, back in her mother’s arms and we were able to cuddle and snuggle with her. She is truly a miracle and both my wife and I are so fortunate to have her in our lives!
